Q. How often should I have my dog groomed?
A. That really all depends on what breed, environment, and lifestyle. Some dogs that have skin allergies might require more frequent bathing. Bigger dogs do not require to be bathed as often as smaller dogs. Hair grows at a different rate on some dogs.

Q. Why does my dog have fleas a couple of days after a flea treatment?
A. When we do a flea treatment in the shop we are only taking care of the fleas that are presently on the pet. The environment in which the dog lives has to be treated also. Our recommendation is to treat your house and yard organically. Check out The Dirt Doctor.

Q. What is the brown discoloration under my dog's eyes?
A. The discoloration is from a dog's tears. We recommend Diamond Eye. Keep this area clean by taking a cotton ball and warm water and wiping the area gently. This will cut down on the odor caused by the bacteria.

Q. Why does my dog scoot his butt across the floor?
A. This could be a couple of different things. The dog might have worms. Or his/her anal glands need to be expressed. We provide this service in the shop. Larger dogs can generally express their own, but smaller dogs need a little help. If your dog has worms, The Groom Shop LLC recommends that you feed your dog Muenster Natural Dog Food. It has natural diatomaceous earth in the food, which helps eliminate pests inside the animal.

Q. Why do my dog's toenails appear long after being cut?
A. Dogs have quicks just like humans. If the toenail is not cut often and they grow long the quicks grow long also. When you continue to cut the nail often, the quicks start receding.

Q. What human foods can I feed my dog?
A. First of all it is very important to feed your dog a healthy dog food. The Groom Shop LLC recommends Muenster Natural Dog Food. However, if you just can't resist feeding your pet human food, stick with vegetables. Absolutely do not feed your pet processed meats, onions, chocolate or grapes.

Q. I brush my dog everyday, why is the hair so matted?
A. It is very important that you use the proper brush. Different type coats require different type brushes. If you are brushing only the top of the dog's coat, you are most likely brushing over the top of the mats. Gently pull the hair up and brush under layers first. Dogs that have undercoat will need to have it blown out and then use what is called a rake to pull the excess hair out.

Q. Can I bathe my dog too often?
A. Yes, if your dog has dry skin. When bathing your dog you wash away natural oils. We recommend using a re-moisturizing conditioner and brushing your dog often to bring back the natural oils. Again a healthy diet will help.
